CITRINE
This Citrine was produced by "lab hydrothermal conditions”.
This means that it is cultured or manmade (synthetic) Citrine.
Citrine mined from the earth and Citrine made in the lab are essentially the same chemically and as far as their properties go. In nature, Citrine is a type of quartz. In the lab, Citrine is made much like children salt crystals.
That is, a hot solution of salt is dissolved in hot water then allowed to slowly cool.
Hot water is able to keep more salt in solution than cold water.
As the solution cools, crystals are formed
in the shapes characteristic for salt.
In the case of am Citrine the chemicals which form quartz are suspended in a hot solution and then cooled under high pressure.
Quartz is formed then further processed to form Citrine.
This cultured or man made Citrine is for the most part identical to Citrine found in nature except that because it is grown in the lab under controlled conditions, these stones usually have fewer imperfections
than stones found in nature.
Also, large stones can be grown for much less money. Natural stones are more valuable, and hold their value.
For example, Citrine in sizes sold on this site can cost per carat and more, whereas i can generally obtain Citrine for less than a dollar per carat.
I use big beautiful gemstones in my jewelry and love being able to have the beauty of cultured Citrine without the cost.
